A 15-year-old teen from Uttar Pradesh, India named Sidakdeep Singh Chahal hit headlines worldwide after achieving a remarkable feat. Boy known as Sidak, has set a new world record for having the longest hair among male teenagers, measuring an astonishing 146 cm (4 ft 9.5 in) long.
New Delhi: A 15-year-old teen from Uttar Pradesh, India named Sidakdeep Singh Chahal hit headlines worldwide after achieving a remarkable feat. Boy known as Sidak, has set a new world record for having the longest hair among male teenagers, measuring an astonishing 146 cm (4 ft 9.5 in) long.
15-Year-old Sikh boy said that when he first revealed that he bags the GWR, people were shocked at first. They were skeptical and needed some evidence to change their minds. He also expressed happiness on being included in the Guinness World Records 2024 book.
“I follow the Sikh religion, and we are forbidden from cutting our hair… I had to take a lot of care of my hair to get it to this length. This would not have been possible without the support of my family. My mother took care of her hair since childhood,” said the record holder.
Mr Chahal’s hair is currently 130 cm (4 feet, 3 inches) long. He has never had a haircut in his whole life, spending roughly an hour every time he washes, dries, and brushes his hair. He maintains them by washing twice a week.
Guinness World Records (GWR) posted a video of Sidakdeep Singh Chahal on its official YouTube account. In the video, he is shown telling how he was harassed by other children for having long hair as a youngster and ‘begged’ his parents to chop it off. As Chahal got older, he started to embrace his long hair and realized that it was a part of who he was. He now hoped to maintain them this way.
The video started with a brief scene of Chahal’s mother washing and drying his hair, before the little one introduced himself and showed off his long hair. He revealed that many people praised his long, thick and full hair and expressed their desire to have hair like hims.

According to the Guinness World Records website, fellow Indian Nilanshi Patel has grown a teenager’s hair 200 cm (6 ft 6 in) long. In 2021, she took a risk and cut off her hair and gave it to a museum.
