Hyderabad: Tollywood actor Sowmya Janu faces massive backlash after she was seen assaulting a traffic police officer in Hyderabad. A video of the same has now gone viral. It has been reported that the official on duty had stopped her for taking the wrong route. In a video surfaced on X, previously known as Twitter, Sowmya was seen hurling abuses at the police official and tore his clothes.
The incident unfolded on Saturday night, February 24, in Banjara Hills. Sowmya happened to be driving a Jaguar and was on the wrong side of the road. The traffic police officer stopped her. The actress lost her cool and manhandled him.
The crux of the case is a collision that occurred when Soumya Janu, identified by the Banjara Hills Police, was caught driving her luxury vehicle on the wrong side of the road. The traffic home guard on duty immediately stopped him and advised him to correct his course. Tempers flared and the situation rapidly escalated, culminating in Janu allegedly abusing and physically clashing with the officer.
A witness captured the incident on his phone and the footage quickly spread across social media platforms, garnering widespread attention.

Sowmya Janu is yet to comment on the incident. Meanwhile, several social media users are demanding strict actions against the actress.
Following the assault, the traffic policeman complained to the Traffic Home Guard Banjara hills Police Station, gave details of the incident, and submitted evidence using the viral video. The police promptly registered a case and initiated an investigation into the matter.
The incident has sparked widespread conversation about the expectations placed on public figures and their interactions with law enforcement officials.
