Violence erupts in parts of Kerala during Argentina’s FIFA World Cup victory celebrations 

After the FIFA World Cup final, an altercation took place in football-crazy Kerala, and violence erupted in several places.

Thiruvananthapuram: Argentina lifted the coveted FIFA World Cup, but there is no lack of Messi and his team’s fans all over the world. Indians are no exception. But after the final, an altercation took place in football-crazy Kerala, and violence erupted in several places.

Violence erupted in numerous places during the night-long celebrations as fans were dancing on the streets and distributing sweets.

The victory celebrations turned violent, and the police made it clear that stern action would be taken against the accused. In the violent activity, three people were stabbed after a brawl broke out between Argentina and Brazil fans, in which one person suffered a serious injury and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Police have so far nabbed six troublemakers.

In a separate incident, three cops got injured in Kochi Kaloor while they were trying to control a victory procession that was carried out on bikes by a group of Argentine fans who were allegedly drunk. Police have arrested 20 people in connection with the incident, and their vehicles were confiscated, police said.

A sub-inspector was injured in Thiruvananthapuram while he was trying to control victory processions in Pozhiyoor. The police have arrested five people in connection with the incident.

An 18-year-old youth collapsed and died during a victory celebration.

At numerous places, people were jubilant after Argentina’s victory, and they distributed food and sweets. A hotel owner distributed 1,500 plates of free chicken biryani in Thrissur. “It’s a small gift to Messi, the living legend.”He lived up to the occasion,” said hotel owner P Shaji.

Sweets were distributed throughout Kozhikode and other places in Kerala.
