Virat Kohli breaks record, becomes the highest run-scorer in T20 World Cup

Virat Kohli has become the highest run-scorer in the history of T20 World Cup. He created new history by leaving behind Sri Lankan batsman Mahela Jayawardene. Virat Kohli has also completed 1001 runs in the T20 World Cup.

New Delhi: Indian team’s star opener Virat Kohli has become the highest run-scorer in the T20 World Cup. He achieved this position leaving behind the great Mahela Jayawardene of Sri Lanka. He became the tournament’s all-time top scorer after completing his 16th run against Bangladesh.

With this, Virat Kohli has scored more than 1020 runs in the T20 World Cup, while Rohit Sharma has 921 runs to his name. In terms of scoring the most runs in this tournament, both these Indian batsmen are at the first and fourth positions respectively. Sri Lankan great Mahela Jayawardene has scored 1,016 runs in 31 matches at an average of 39.07. He has one century and six fifties with the bat, with an individual best score of 100. He is the second highest run scorer in the tournament.

In the T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli has scored 1,001 runs in 24 matches at an average of 83.41. His highest score in the tournament is an unbeaten 89. He has 12 half-centuries with his bat. The tournament’s all-time top scorer is Sri Lankan great Mahela Jayawardene, who has scored 1,016 runs in 31 matches at an average of 39.07. One century and six fifties have come with his bat.
