Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli have raised more than Rs 11 crore through their initiative In This Together for Covid-19 relief. The couple recently announced that they had raised the target amount to Rs 11 crore from the initial Rs 7 crore.
Anushka today (May 14), took to social media to thank people who donated for the cause. She wrote that they are amazed and humbled by the spirit of solidarity that people have shown.
Anushka Sharma thanked fans for their donations. She wrote, “Truly amazed and humbled by the spirit of solidarity that you all have shown. We are proud to announce that we have raised more than our initial target and it will go a long way to save lives. Thank you for your overwhelming support in helping the people of India. This wouldn’t be possible without you. Jai Hind (sic).”

The couple themselves put ₹2 crore and the funds raised through the campaign will be donated to Act Grants to aid COVID-19 relief.
Their aim was to raise ₹7 crore through ‘Ketto’ but with two days still left, they have managed to surpass their target by a handsome margin.
MPL Sports Foundation, part of fantasy gaming company MPL, also donated ₹5 crore.
Virat Kohli thanked MPL Sports Foundation for the contribution. He wrote, “Thank you MPL Sports Foundation for your generous contribution of 5 crore in our fight against Covid-19. With your help we have now increased our target to 11 crore. Anushka & I are deeply grateful for your unconditional support (sic).”

In an video, the couple pledged its support towards the Covid-19 relief work. The actor-producer wrote, “As our country battles the second wave of Covid-19, and our healthcare systems are facing extreme challenges, it breaks my heart to see our people suffering. So, Virat and I have initiated a campaign #InThisTogether, with Ketto, to raise funds for Covid-19 relief.”

Anushka gave her birthday celebrations a miss this year, stating that ‘in the midst of all this pain and suffering, it just did not feel right to celebrate’. The couple welcomed their first daughter, Vamika, earlier this year.
