Jorhat: At least 13 people, including three forest department personnel, were injured in a leopard attack in Assam’s Jorhat district. The police gave this information on Monday. The incident took place in the vicinity of the Rain Forest Research Institute at Chenijn near Teok in Jorhat district.
Jorhat District Superintendent of Police Mohan Lal Meena told sources that 13 people, including three forest employees, were injured in the attack. The SP said, “All the injured have been admitted to a local hospital. Their condition is said to be out of danger.”
Videos shared on Twitter by the officials showed a leopard moving around the campus of RFRI. In another video, the leopard is seen jumping over a building fence and attacking a four-wheeler with people inside.

A Jorhat district forest official said that at around 10.30 am, he received information that a leopard had attacked some people in the area. The forest officer said, “When our team reached the area, the leopard attacked two of our staff. Our second team also reached the spot and we are monitoring the situation and trying to pacify the leopard.” . We have three teams here now.”
Earlier in Chhattisgarh, on December 12, an elderly woman was killed in a leopard attack in Gadhaura village of Kunwarpur forest area in Manendragarh district. The victim has been identified as Fuljharia.
