The dead included several top Interior Ministry officials, including Interior Minister Denis Monastirsky. The building into which the helicopter crashed happened to be a kindergarten.
Kyiv: In yet another tragic incident, 16 people, including two children and Ukraine’s interior minister, were killed when a helicopter crashed near a kindergarten outside the capital Kyiv. Officials gave this information on Wednesday.
Igor Klemenko, the head of the national police, said, “At the moment there is information about a total of 16 people killed.” He said that several top Interior Ministry officials were among the dead, including Interior Minister Denis Monastirsky.
In a video that circulated online from the aftermath of the incident, cries could be heard at the scene which was consumed by a fire.

He said that medics and police were working at the scene. The town of Brovary is located some 20 kilometres (12 miles) northeast of Kyiv.
Russian and Ukrainian forces fought for control of Brovary in the early stages of Moscow’s invasion until Russia’s troops withdrew in early April.
Russian President Vladimir Putin sent troops to pro-Western Ukraine on February 24 last year.
Notably, earlier this week, Russia launched a new wave of massive attacks on Ukraine, targeting energy infrastructure across the nation and killing at least 12 people in a missile strike on a nine-story apartment building in the city of Dnipro on Saturday, according to officials.
