Watch: Phuket-Moscow flight with over 300 people onboard catches fire during takeoff

The tyres and engines of a Russian plane caught fire during takeoff at the Phuket International Airport in Thailand. As soon as the fire was detected in the plane, the takeoff was canceled after informing the officials of Phuket airport. According to an information, there were more than 300 passengers and 12 crew members on board the Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.

Phuket: The engine and tires of Russia’s Azur Air flight going from Phuket to Moscow caught fire during take-off. Officials told that this incident is of February 4. As soon as the fire was detected in the plane, the officials of Phuket airport informed and canceled the takeoff. According to an information, there were more than 300 passengers and 12 crew members on board the Boeing 767-300ER aircraft. No one was injured in the accident. After the aircraft was evacuated, the passengers were advised to wait for a new aircraft.

A video of the incident was shared on Twitter where the user said the incident took place on February 4 and the flight was travelling to Moscow. “Engine blew up on a Russian Azur Air Boeing 767-300ER as it was taking off from Phuket, #Thailand to Moscow, #Russia. All flights cancelled at the Thai airport from Saturday 4:30pm to Sunday morning. Time for all countries to stop allowing Russian airlines planes,” the post was captioned.

Meanwhile, Azur Air issued a statement and said it was looking into the matter. “Airline technical specialists have already started work to eliminate the malfunctions,” the airline said.

According to reports, the incident occurred at 4:30 pm local time and the runway was closed for 40 minutes. Due to this, about 47 flights were delayed and many flights were diverted to Krabi Airport, Samui Airport and Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok. According to the information received, the prudence of the pilot averted a horrific accident. Britain’s Metro News Paper told that this aircraft is with Azur Air since 2015 and it is a 26 year old aircraft.
