A massive fire broke out after a LATAM Airlines plane collided with a truck near the runway in Peru. The fire was brought under control after a lot of effort.
Peru: A LATAM Airlines plane taking off from the international airport in the Peruvian capital Lima on Friday collided with a fire truck on the runway and caught fire. All passengers and crew of the plane were safe, officials said, but the people in the truck Two firefighters were killed. Lima Airport Partners, the company that operates Jorge Chávez Airport, said in a tweet that operations at the facility had been suspended. The Airbus A320 neo was carrying 102 passengers and six crew members.

“We regret to confirm that the flight LA2213 that covered the Lima – Juliaca route, operated by LATAM Airlines Peru suffered an accident on the ground. There are no passengers or crew members deceased,” LATAM Peru said in a statement.

Plane catches fire after hitting fire engine
The company said that our teams are taking care of all the passengers. The plane was hit. The plane was on its way to the runway for takeoff when it collided with the fire engine. President Pedro Castillo expressed his condolences to the families of the firefighters in a tweet.
Flight LA2213 was taking off from Lima’s main airport on its way to the Peruvian city of Juliaca. Videos on social media showed smoke billowing from a large aircraft on the runway. According to the fire department, the incident was reported at 3:25 pm and four teams were deployed to evacuate the passengers to safety. The prosecutor’s office in Callao said it had opened an investigation into the cause of the accident.
The fire was doused and all the people onboard were evacuated safely. One of the passengers– Enrique Varsi-Rospigliosi shared a photo of himself covered in foam alongside a woman with the aircraft that firefighters doused in the background. “When life gives you a second chance,” he tweeted.
Lima Airport Partners (LAP), which operates Jorge Chavez airport in Lima confirmed the death of two fire department personnel in the tragic incident. In the statement released by LAP, it said, “At this time we are carrying out all the necessary investigations to determine the causes of this fact.” It further added that operations at the airport will remain closed till 01:00 PM Saturday.
