New Delhi: On Saturday morning, A Jabalpur-bound SpiceJet flight returned to the Delhi airport after smoke was detected inside the aircraft cabin. The smoke was detected inside the plane when the aircraft was passing 5000 ft, the airline spokesperson said. The SpiceJet aircraft then returned safely to Delhi airport, the airline said in a statement.
“Our flight was at 6.15 am. After 2-3 mins of taking off, we could smell something… We started panicking, some people couldn’t breathe. Then they made an emergency landing. We landed at 7 am, after which we got to know that the smoke was coming out of engine fans,” said a passenger, Saurabh Chhabra.
He further said, “Soon after the flight took off, there was a panic situation in the plane as passengers were having trouble breathing inside.”

This is the second incident in two weeks when a fire incident occurred in a SpiceJet aircraft. On June 19, a similar incident happened on Patna to Delhi flight. The inquiry is underway to examine what triggered the smoke on board the aircraft.
