Watch video: Indigo flight 6E-2131 from Delhi to Bengaluru grounded after suspected spark

Indigo flight to Bengaluru landed at Delhi airport. A suspicious spark appeared on the plane. Following the incident, a complete emergency was declared at the capital's IGI airport.

New Delhi: IndiGo’s flight from Delhi to Bangalore was stopped at Delhi airport on Friday after its engine caught fire. According to the information received, Indigo flight number 6E-2131 which was flying from Delhi to Bangalore was stopped at Delhi airport after it noticed a fire in its engine. As of now, there is no report of any casualty in this incident. The Civil Aviation Minister has directed the DGCA official to start an investigation in this regard.

A woman named Priyanka Kumar, who was in the flight at the time of the incident, has shared the video of the fire in the plane. While sharing the video, she wrote that there was a desire to take the video off. But look what happened.

According to the information received, a total of 184 people were on board the plane, which includes 177 passengers and 7 crew members. Everyone is being landed safely. This incident happened at 9:45 pm, after which everyone was alerted at the Delhi airport.

“The flight would have taken off in five to seven seconds. Suddenly, I saw massive sparks coming off the wings, and it turned into a major fire. And the plane was stopped immediately. The pilot informed us there was some malfunction with the engine,” Priyanka Kumar told sources.

“We are still in the plane. The situation is under control. The fire brigade came. The plane has been taken to a parking bay. And IndiGo is arranging another aircraft for us,” Ms Kumar said around 11 pm.

In a statement, IndiGo said, “An aircraft operating flight 6E2131 from Delhi to Bangalore experienced an engine stall during take-off roll. The take-off was aborted, and the aircraft safely returned to the bay.”

Sources said that the cause of the incident is not yet known. According to the Delhi Police, the IndiGo flight was supposed to go from Delhi to Bangalore, but before it could take off, a spark came out in it, the incident happened at around 9.30 pm, after which it was stopped on the runway itself and then the fire was extinguished. All passengers are safe.
