Watch video: Tripura BJP MLA caught watching obscene video in assembly, notice issued

Guwahati: A video of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA allegedly watching porn on his phone during the Tripura Assembly session has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread criticism. This video is of BJP MLA Jadab Lal Debnath representing the Bagbasa assembly seat of the North-East Indian state.

According to reports, the incident took place when issues related to the state budget were being discussed in the assembly. This video was shot by someone sitting behind Jadab Lal Debnath. It can be seen in the video that while the Speaker and other MLAs were speaking, Jadab Lal Debnath is scrolling through the video clips, pausing, and watching what appears to be obscene clips on his phone.

Rajib Bhattacharya, BJP Tripura state president, told sources that the party will shortly issue a notice to him and demand clarification.

According to the viral footage, the MLA was on his phone watching some indecent stuff. The newly formed Tripura Assembly had its first three-day session on March 24 and March 27-28.

According to party sources, the BJP has sought an explanation from the MLA and summoned him. Jadab Lal Debnath has not yet responded to the allegations or the video. According to sources, he left the assembly premises soon after the session was over.

This is not the first time that a BJP leader has been caught watching porn in a public place. In the year 2012 too, two ministers of the then BJP government in Karnataka were forced to resign after viewing obscene clips on their phones inside the state assembly. Ministers Laxman Savadi and C.C. Patil was later reinstated by the party after being found innocent in the investigation.
