Kolkata: Veteran Trinamool Congress leader and senior West Bengal cabinet minister Sadhan Pande died at a hospital in Mumbai on Sunday following prolonged illness, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said.
He was 71, and is survived by his daughter Shreya.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee offered condolences on the demise of TMC leader. She tweeted, “Our senior colleague, party leader and Cabinet Minister Sadhan Pande has passed away today morning at Mumbai. Had a wonderful relation for long. Deeply pained at this loss. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, followers.”

Veteran Trinamool Congress leader was admitted to Kolkata`s private hospital with critical ailments and lung infection. He was shifted to Mumbai`s Kokilaben Hospital last year in the month of September. He continued to remain on ventilator support in the ICU. Pande was the sitting Minister for Consumer Affairs and Self Help Group and Self-Employment in the Mamata Banerjee government. He was an MLA from the Maniktala constituency in Kolkata.
West Bengal minister Sadhan Pande’s family is preparing to bring back his mortal remains to Kolkata by today evening. The final rites will take place on Monday.
