Weather alert: Heavy rainfall likely over Bihar and U’khand till Tues, over Sikkim and northeast India till next 5 days

Heavy rains are likely over Bihar and Uttarakhand till Tuesday .IMD also predicted a heavy rainfall spell is likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal-Sikkim, northeast India during the next five days.

New Delhi: According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rains are likely over Bihar and Uttarakhand till Tuesday and over Himachal Pradesh and east Uttar Pradesh on August 28 and 29. IMD also predicted a heavy rainfall spell is likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal-Sikkim, northeast India during the next five days.

The weather department also predicted widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm is very likely over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the next two days. Northeastern states, including Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram are likely to receive heavy showers over the next few days. “Fairly widespread/widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during 27th-29th and over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam & Meghalaya during next 5 days.”

Heavy showers are also predicted over the eastern part of the country. The Met department has predicted widespread light to moderate rainfall, with isolated heavy spells of shower in Bihar and southeast UP during the next two days and over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during next four days. Isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely over Bihar today. The IMD, in its weather bulletin, said, “Fairly widespread/widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls & thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Bihar during 27th-29th; Jharkhand on 28th; southeast Uttar Pradesh on 28th & 29th and over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during next 5 days.” Isolated d very heavy rainfall is likely over Bihar on Sunday.

The IMD predicted isolated heavy rainfall with thunderstorms or lightning over the Western Himalayan region, including Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. North Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Coastal Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala & Mahe and South Interior Karnataka will also witness widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rianfall for the next few days. Heavy showers are likely over Himachal Pradesh on August 28 and 29 and over Uttarakhand till August 29.

“Fairly widespread/widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm/lightning very likely over North Interior Karnataka on 27th, 30th & 31st; Coastal Andhra Pradesh on 27th & 28th; Telangana during 27th-29th; Rayalaseema during 27th-30th; Coastal Karnataka on 30th & 31st and over Tamil Nadu, Kerala & Mahe and South Interior Karnataka during next 5 days,” said the weather agency.
