Weather news: IMD forecast issues heavy rain in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu for next 2 days

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rains over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining North Tamil Nadu and Rayalaseema from the evening of 20 November. On November 21 and 22, there is a possibility of heavy rains over North Tamil Nadu-Puducherry and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema and light to moderate rain at a few places in the North.

New Delhi: A well-marked low pressure area has formed over the central part of South Bay of Bengal. It is very likely to move west-northwestwards and gradually concentrate over southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours. Thereafter, it is very likely to move towards Tamil Nadu-Puducherry and South Andhra Pradesh coasts during next 2 days.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), due to this, heavy rains can be seen in some areas of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rains over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining North Tamil Nadu and Rayalaseema from the evening of 20 November.

The intensity of rain is likely to increase with light to moderate rain at many places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh during the same period. On November 21 and 22, there is a possibility of heavy rains over North Tamil Nadu-Puducherry and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema and light to moderate rain at a few places in the North.

In view of these predictions of India Meteorological Department (IMD), IMD’s Amaravati Regional Meteorological Center has issued a Yellow Alert in eight southern districts within Andhra. These include Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, Kurnool, SPSR Nellore, YSR Cuddapah, Anantapuramu and Chittoor. While Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu and Villupuram in Tamil Nadu have been kept on Orange Alert till Monday (November 21). In which people have been instructed to ‘be prepared’ for bad weather.

According to IMD, strong wind (wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph reaching 65 kmph) is very likely over southwest & adjoining west central Bay of Bengal and along and off Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Sri Lanka coasts on 20 November is likely to run. Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas.
