According to the Meteorological Department, the Western Disturbance (Weather Update), which entered India via Iran, is now passing over North India. Due to its effect, there is cyclonic pressure in the sea areas. Due to which 120 mile sea jet stream winds are blowing in many areas of the country adjacent to the sea. During this, there may be light rain in North Punjab.
Rain in these areas today
According to private weather agency Skymet, light rain is possible in Sikkim and Assam today. Dusty strong westerly winds can blow in the western parts of Rajasthan. Light rain or snow is possible in the upper reaches of Arunachal Pradesh today. According to the agency, today and tomorrow the minimum and maximum temperature may increase in northwest and central India. After this, it will again fall by 2-3 degree Celsius.
Snowfall alert in high areas today
According to the Meteorological Department, rain-snowfall has started in North Kashmir and other tourist places including Kupwara and Gulmarg of Jammu and Kashmir. Today there is a possibility of heavy snowfall in the higher reaches. Along with this, it will be cloudy with light rain and snowfall in many areas of the state. After this, dry weather can last for a week. The Meteorological Department has urged people living at high altitudes to be alert in view of the possibility of avalanches.
