New Delhi: The weather has changed once again in North India. Due to the strong sunlight in the last week of January, it seemed that the quilts and blankets would have to be washed very soon. But the first rain and since then the cold winds have changed the mood of the weather again. In the Gangetic plains including the capital Delhi, the sun is getting brighter, but due to the westerly wind, it is getting quite cold in the morning, evening and night.

According to the latest forecast of the Meteorological Department, a new Western Disturbance has reached the Western Himalayas. Due to its effect, the weather agency has predicted light to moderate rain, snowfall and avalanches in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Light to moderate rains lashed the southern coast of Tamil Nadu on Thursday. The weather remained dry in Delhi-NCR, UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and cold winds continued to blow. Due to sunshine in the day, people got relief from cold. However, in many areas of North India, a drop of 2-3 degree Celsius has been recorded in the night temperature.

According to Skymet Weather, there may be light rain and snowfall at some places in Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours. There may be a slight increase in the night minimum temperature in some parts of Punjab, Haryana and West Rajasthan. Parts of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha and Telangana recorded a drop of 2 to 3 degrees in the minimum temperature on Thursday.

Avalanche warning in 4 districts of Uttarakhand

The Meteorological Department has issued an avalanche warning in 4 districts of Uttarakhand, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi, in areas above 3 thousand meters. People living in high altitude areas in these districts have been advised to avoid snow-laden mountains. Along with this, tourists going to the hilly areas for sightseeing have also been asked to be cautious.

According to the IMD, light to moderate rains with isolated heavy rains are possible over southern parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Light rain may occur at isolated places with one or two moderate spells over rest parts of Tamil Nadu. Light rain is possible in parts of southern islands of Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadweep.

Alert issued for cold wave in these cities

The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of severe winter in Madhya Pradesh. IMD has issued an alert regarding the outbreak of cold wave in 7 districts of the state. There is a possibility of cold day in Ujjain and Ratlam. Here the minimum temperature can reach up to 4 degree Celsius.

Cold wave has been predicted in Umaria, Jabalpur, Balaghat, Sagar, Bhopal, Rajgarh and Ratlam districts. The weather is expected to remain normal in Chhattisgarh. It will be cold in most of the areas here in the morning and evening. The Meteorological Department has expressed the hope that the night temperature will also remain normal.
