This week will start from 14th May till 20th May. Many important fasts and festivals are going to happen in the coming seven days. They have great importance in Hindu religion. Apara Ekadashi, Vrishabh Sankranti fast is on Monday i.e. 15th of this week. At the same time, on May 17, monthly Shivratri and Krishna Paksha Pradosh fast is going to be observed. If we talk about 19th May then on this day Vat Savitri Vrat, Shani Jayanti, Jyestha Amavasya is observed. Vat Savitri fast is very special for married women. On this day, married women keep this fast for the long life of their husbands and to have children. Shani Jayanti will be celebrated on Jyestha Amavasya day in North India. This week is starting from Dashami Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Jyestha month and the week is ending on Pratipada Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Jyestha month.

According to the Hindu calendar, Apara Ekadashi fast is observed on the Ekadashi date of Krishna Paksha of Jyestha month. By doing special worship of Lord Vishnu on this special day, the devotees get inexhaustible virtue, strength, wisdom, knowledge and wealth.

May 17, 2023, Wednesday – Pradosh Vrat, Monthly Shivratri

The first Pradosh fast of Jyestha month will be observed on this day. According to religious beliefs, there is a law to worship Lord Shiva on the day of Pradosh Vrat. It is believed that by worshiping Lord Shiva on this day during Pradosh Kaal, the seeker gets happiness and prosperity and all the problems coming in life go away.

19 May 2023, Friday – Vat Savitri Vrat

According to the Hindu calendar, Vat Savitri Vrat is observed in many parts of India on the new moon day of Jyestha month. On this special day married women observe Vat Savitri Vrat for the long life of their husbands and worship Vat i.e. Banyan tree.
