The Bengal police’s CID office, located at Bhawani Bhawan, has summoned the BJP leader for an appearance. Prior to the 2021 West Bengal Assembly election, Tiwari was with the Trinamool Congress Party and the mayor of Asansol, but switched parties and joined the BJP. He acknowledged getting the notice required by 160 CrPc.

Based on a written complaint, a case was registered in this regard at the Andal police station in 2020, and the CID detectives then launched an inquiry.

Jitendra Tiwari said, “An investigating authority can call anyone for the sake of investigation.”

Other probing agencies, the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate, are also investigating alleged illegal excavation, transportation, and sale of coal from some districts of West Bengal.
