West Bengal: A major accident has happened in Cooch Behar, West Bengal. Here 10 people have died due to electrocution in the car while many have been seriously injured. The incident happened late in the night around 12 o’clock.
Police told media that the incident may have happened due to the wiring of the generator of the DJ system in the van. Amit Verma, Additional Superintendent of Police, Mathabhanga said, “Around 12 pm, an incident took place at Dharla Bridge under Mekhaliganj PS, where a pickup van carrying passengers going to Jalpesh got hit by lightning. Preliminary investigation suggests that this could be caused by the wiring of the generator (DJ System). Which was installed in the rear of the vehicle.
According to the information, A total of 27 people have been injured in the accident, out of which 16 have been admitted to Jalpaiguri Hospital where they are undergoing treatment.
A police official said that all these passengers were residents of Sitakuchi police station area. After the accident, the families of all these people have been informed about the incident. At the same time, the police have seized the vehicle (pickup van) from the spot. At the same time, the police said that since the incident, the driver of the vehicle is absconding from the spot, in search of which the police team is engaged.
