Kolkata: In a devastating turn of events, at least four people were killed in a significant train accident in West Bengal, a freight train collided with the stationed Kanchenjunga Express from behind. Further information from the railway officials is expected as rescue and relief operations continue.

Meanwhile, chief minister Mamata Banerjee reacted and wrote on her X, “Shocked to learn, just now, about a tragic train accident, in Phansidewa area of Darjeeling district. While details are awaited, Kanchenjunga Express has reportedly been hit by a goods train. DM, SP, doctors, ambulances and disaster teams have been rushed to the site for rescue, recovery, medical assistance. Action on war-footing initiated.”
