A TMC worker has been detained by police for allegedly molesting a minor girl in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal. The girl’s mother reported that the man entered their house on Friday night and molested her daughter, who is in Class 8. The girl managed to escape and shouted for help, alerting her family and neighbors.
Sandeshkhali, located near the Sundarbans and about 100 km from Kolkata, has a history of protests. Earlier this year, there were protests against TMC leader Shajahan Sheikh and his supporters over allegations of sexual abuse and land grabbing. Sheikh is now in custody.
Police Investigation
The Basirhat Police District is investigating the case. An officer said the accused, a 20-year-old man, is being questioned. The girl has undergone a medical examination, and the report is pending.
