New Delhi: The messaging giant WhatsApp has introduced a much needed update that shows photos and videos sent in chats in a bigger format.

The messaging platform announced the new feature in a tweet providing an insight of how it works. As of now, photos sent on WhatsApp appear cropped, and one has to open it to view the full image, however, with this new update, the app will now display the entire photo within the chat itself so you won’t have to see a cropped version. This also applies to videos sent on WhatsApp chats as well.

However, this isn’t a major feature but it can surely be useful especially for devices with big displays.

Notably, WhatsApp rolled out this feature to iOS users last month with the update version 2.21.71 in the App Store. It looks like the feature is now available to all WhatsApp users.

Making this feature a new normal, the micro- blogging site, Twitter, has also started testing full view photos on its timeline. This test lets it possible for images to appear in full view, unlike its present version. At present, you need to tap on the tweet to see the full image as it shows only a preview of it on the timeline. But with this feature you will see exactly how the image appears in the tweet composer.
