New Delhi: On Saturday, Union Minister Smriti Irani hit back at Congress party leader, who alleged that an “illegal bar” was being run in Goa by her daughter Zoish, saying she will now seek answers in court. Addressing a press conference, Irani said that Congress had “publicly mutilated” her daughter’s character.
“My daughter’s fault is her mother holds press conference on the loot of Rs 5,000 crore by Sonia and Rahul Gandhi,” Irani said.
“It is done at the direction of the Congress leadership, namely the Gandhi family. Because I had the audacity to hold a press conference and question Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi on the Rs 5,000 crore loot of the Indian treasury.” “The girl is a first-year college student. She is not in politics. She is a normal college student. But Congress spokesperson alleged that the girl is running an illegal bar. I want to tell Pawan Kheda that my 18-year-old daughter is a college student, my daughter doesn’t run any bar,” she added.
Earlier on Saturday, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should sack Smriti Irani, alleging that an “illegal bar” was being run in Goa by her daughter. Talking to reporters, he said that there are serious charges of corruption against Irani’s family and her daughter is allegedly running a restaurant in Goa, in which a bar is functioning on a “fake licence”.
In a statement, the lawyer of Smriti Irani’s daughter, Kirat Nagra, has said his client is neither an owner nor operating the restaurant called Silly Souls Goa and has not received any show cause notice from any authority whatsoever as alleged. Kirat Nagra said various “erroneous, frivolous, malicious and defamatory social media posts being made by various vested quarters trying to settle political scores with our client’s mother, the renowned politician Smriti Irani each of which are predicated on blatant falsities”.
