Woman From Unnao Discovered Deceased in Rented Residence in Lucknow

On Friday, law enforcement uncovered the decomposed remains of a 26-year-old woman inside a locked house in Damodar Nagar Colony of Azad Nagar locality in the city. The discovery has prompted an investigation to determine if she was a victim of murder, according to Lucknow’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP-South), Vineet Jaiswal.

The police have noted that circumstantial evidence suggests the possibility of murder, although no visible injury marks were found on the body. Authorities are also investigating the potential of sexual assault, which is yet to be ascertained. The body has been sent for a postmortem examination.

The woman, originally from Unnao, was employed at a private firm in Lucknow, according to Inspector in-charge of Krishna Nagar police station, Jitendra Pratap Singh. Her identity was established through an identity card found in the room. The family was informed about the incident, although they are yet to submit a written complaint. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.

The discovery of the body was prompted by local residents who alerted the police about a foul odor emanating from the house. The crime scene indicated a gathering had occurred at the residence involving alcohol before the suspected murder. The owner of the house disclosed that the woman had rented the property just a month ago.

The condition of the body indicated that she may have been deceased for at least three days.
