Women should avoid eating sugary foods during pregnancy

High intakes of sugary food during pregnancy may harm the health of pregnant women and further increase the chances of obesity, kidney trouble and sudden blood glucose spikes causing insulin imbalance. According to a recent study women who consume sugary foods during pregnancy risk their children of getting allergies and infections.

Sweets are probably the most consumed eatables during pregnancy. One of the biggest health risks associated with excess consumption of sugar during pregnancy is gestational diabetes.

Researchers advised to beat sugar carvings and eat small meals after every three hours. On the occasion of sweet attack one should eat fresh fruits or drink juices and avoid eating sugary foods.

Excessive appetite for sugar may also be an indication of deficiency of certain minerals like zinc or magnesium that are involved in glucose metabolism.
