Oregon: Ace Indian javelin star Annu Rani failed to get a podium finish in the women’s javelin throw final and remained in seventh position at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon on Saturday. She threw her spear 61.12m, which was insufficient to earn a medal. But her stupendous performance has opened the gate for her to bag a medal in any big event in the future.

Annu started her campaign in the final with a throw of 56.18m; her second throw was of 61.12m, which ultimately remained her best because she failed to cross that mark in her remaining four attempts. She managed to throw her javelin 59.27, 58.14, 59.98, and 58.70 metres in her last four throws.
In this event, Australia’s Kelsey-Lee Barber won a gold medal with an enormous throw of 66.91m. Kara Winger of the USA claimed the silver medal with a throw of 64.05m. Japan’s Haruka Kitagichi won the bronze medal with a throw of 63.27m in her final attempt, which eventually became the first medal for Japan in this prestigious competition.
