A liver has several functions, including generating bile, transporting waste, and breaking down lipids in the small intestine during digestion. A liver is also responsible for the creation of proteins for blood plasma, the conversion of glucose into glycogen (which may then be retransformed into glucose to create energy), the management of amino acids, and more.
While these functions highlight the importance of the liver in our bodies, diabetes can make things more difficult. If a person has diabetes, they may need to pay special attention to their liver to ensure that it is healthy and free of cirrhosis or scarring.

According to Dr. Roy Patankar, Gastroenterologist and Director of Zen Multispeciality Hospital in Mumbai, diabetes and obesity will cause non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), in which excess fat builds up in the liver, as well as a more severe form of NAFLD known as non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), according to Hindustan Times. The fat in the liver causes inflammation, which leads to scar formation, which leads to cirrhosis and end-stage liver disease over time.
As a result, a liver transplant will be required. According to him, if you’ve ever had NAFLD, you’re more likely to get heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol, or other metabolic syndromes.
Because the liver is so vulnerable to illnesses and failure, there are a few things you can do to keep it healthy and functioning:
Swimming, cycling, yoga, or going to the gym are all examples of physical exercise.
-To keep your blood pressure in check, limit your salt and caffeine intake.
-Colas, sodas, fizzy beverages, sweets, fruit juices, bakery products, and candies can all contribute to liver disease and other metabolic disorders. As a result, it is critical that we restrict our intake of certain foods.
-Eat at regular intervals and keep track of your intake.
-Exercise for half an hour every day and eat a diet rich in whole grains, fresh fruits, and vegetables.
-Control your blood sugar by eating the correct meals and avoiding junk and processed foods.
