New Delhi:In the Shiv Jyoti Arpanam program in Ujjain, a world record has been created for lighting 18 lakh 82 thousand diyas simultaneously on the banks of the shipra river.
Ujjain is home to Mahakaleshwar, One of the 12 jyotirlingas associated with Shiva.
After the lighting of 11,71,078 diyas in Ujjain on Mahashivratri last year, 15.76 lakh lamps were lit in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya city on Diwali in 2022 to set a world record. The entire programme in Ujjain on Mahashivratri this time based on the “zero waste” principle, the officials said. Arround 20,000 volunteers participated in this programme.
The state government’s culture department hosted a grand event called ‘Shiv Jyoti Arpanam’ in Ujjain, which was executed by the city administration.
Both the banks of the Kshipra river are lit with lamps. Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan is also present in the programme.
The process of darshan in the temple will continue for 44 hours till the doors of the temple are closed at 11 pm on February 19.
