Mumbai:In the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League. Harmanpreet Kaur led her team to victory in their very first game of the tournament by a huge margin. Harmanpreet smacked 65 in 30, Mathews turned it up with her 31-ball 47, Kerr got 45 in 24 and 2-12. She has become the first player to score a fifty in the Women’s Premier League.
Mumbai Indians scored an imposing 207 for five in the opener. Gujarat Giants were all out for a paltry 64 in 15.1 overs.
Harmanpreet Kaur, Captain Mumbai Indians: I think it was a brilliant start, We kept things simpe and clear. Told players to play natural. It is a big day for women’s cricket and we talked about expressing ourselves. I watched the ball nicely and backed myself. Whatever came my way, I backed myself and it went my way. It’s a big day and a big victory for us and the way we started, we are really happy.
