Yogi Cabinet expansion in next 4-5 days, Jitin Prasada, Sanjay Nishad top pick

Lucknow: Amid the buzz over Uttar Pradesh cabinet expansion that is due before the upcoming US assembly elections in 2022, speculations are rife that Jitin Prasada who joined the BJP a few months ago after leaving the grand old party, Congress, is likely to be inducted in the cabinet as BJP wants to have a more Brahmin representation, thus making Prasad the first choice for the new cabinet. Apart from the minister, Jitin Prasad can also be made an MLC.

While the other name from the Brahmin community will is of Sanjay Nishad, who is a key ally of the BJP in the state and can play an important role considering the Dalit votes in the state.

This time BJP is believed to be looking forward to woo all the communities to reach every section, community, and region of the state.

Here is the list of ministers who are likely to be inducted in new UP cabinet:

  1. Jitin Prasad
  2. Sanjay Nishad
  3. Tejpal Singh Nagar
  4. Sangeeta Balwant Bind
  5. MP Sainthwar
  6. Sanjay Kumar Gond
  7. Rahul Kaul
  8. Manju Siwach
  9. Sahendra Singh Ramala

Furthermore, UP cabinet expansion is speculated to take place on August 31 or September 1.

At 54 ministers, the Uttar Pradesh cabinet can accommodate six more before it hits the limit of 60. As of now, there are 23 cabinet ministers, 9 independent ministers, and 22 ministers of state in the Yogi cabinet, taking the total number of ministers to 54. As per the rules, at present 6 ministerial posts are vacant.
