YouTuber Arrested After False Claim of Spending a Day at Bengaluru Airport

A 23-year-old YouTuber from Bengaluru, Vikas Gowda, has been arrested for allegedly entering Kempegowda International Airport and falsely claiming to have spent an entire day there. According to reports, Gowda entered the airport on April 7 with a ticket for a Chennai-bound Air India flight but deliberately did not board the plane. Instead, he roamed around the airport premises, recording a video on his mobile phone.

Gowda uploaded the alleged video on his YouTube channel, which boasts nearly 1.13 lakh subscribers, falsely asserting that he had spent an entire day at the airport and had explored various areas, evading security measures. However, he later deleted the video.

Authorities revealed that Gowda cleared security at Terminal-2 and spent approximately six hours wandering the airport before leaving, claiming to security personnel that he had missed his flight. Despite suspicions, his valid ticket and boarding pass allowed him to exit without further scrutiny.

Investigations suggest that Gowda’s actions were driven by a desire for publicity, and his claims in the video were exaggerated. Following a complaint from a Central Industrial Security Force official, Gowda was charged under Sections 505 (Statements conducing to public mischief) and 448 (house trespass) of the Indian Penal Code. He was subsequently arrested and later released on bail.
