Zomato apologizes for the ad of Hrithik’s ‘Mahakal Thali’, gives this cleaning

New Delhi: On Sunday, India’s food delivery company Zomato issued a clarification on the Hrithik Roshan-starrer ad, in which the actor was seen ordering food from ‘Mahakal’ when he thought ‘thali’, or plate of food. Zomato said in a statement that the ad refers to the ‘thalis’ in the “Mahakal restaurant” and not the revered Sri Mahakaleshwar temple. It has also been said on behalf of Zomato that this advertisement has now been removed. It was also told why this advertisement was shot.

A leader of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti said, “Mahakal se manga liya..’, New Zomato ad linking Mahakaleshwar temple with food distribution ignites controversy, Pujari condemns ad for hurting Hindu sentiments. @zomato is insulting Hindus again and again.”

The statement also said that we have selected ‘Mahakal Restaurant’ on the basis of popularity. We deeply respect the sentiments of the people of Ujjain, and now this ad has been removed. We sincerely apologize as it was not our intention to hurt anyone’s faith and sentiments. The Gurgaon-based company said the ‘Mahakal’ thali ad was part of its pan-India campaign that identified top local restaurants in each city and their top dishes based on popularity.

Actually this whole controversy happened because the word ‘Mahakal’ was used in the advertisement. This advertisement is done by ad actor Hrithik Roshan. In this he is saying, ‘I have liked the plate. If you are in Ujjain, then asked for it from Mahakal. The priests of the Mahakal temple had also strongly opposed this. They say that the Mahakal temple does not deliver any plate.
