16-Year-old in Thane held for derogatory post about Chhatrapati Shivaji on social media

A minor student from Bhiwandi in Thane district had shared a derogatory post on social media against Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Due to which the Bhiwandi police has taken the minor into custody. The accused had also called Tipu Sultan the King of India.

Thane: A minor student from Bhiwandi in Thane district had shared a derogatory post on social media against Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Due to which the Bhiwandi police has taken the minor into custody. While the accused praised Tipu Sultan on social media, he has condemned great men. He has called Tipu Sultan the King of India, while writing derogatory things against Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

The post making derogatory remarks against the great man was copied by a local person and tagged to the police. Taking immediate cognizance of the matter, the police took him into custody. In this case, the police have registered a case against the accused juvenile under sections 153A and 295A of the IPC and taken them into custody.

Bhiwandi’s Shanti Nagar police station official said that on the basis of a complaint, section 153-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language etc.) And a case has been registered under 295-A (deliberate and malicious act with intent to hurt religious feelings).
