Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das said, people have four months time. Feel free to go to the bank and exchange notes. There is no need to panic. Banks have enough money. Das said, there is no possibility of crowding in the branches of banks. There is no need to rush to exchange notes. He also urged the people not to crowd. Das clarified, no institution including businessmen can refuse to accept Rs 2,000 note.
Will not have to give any ID proof
RBI has not issued any instructions regarding this. According to the information received so far, people will not have to give any identity card to exchange the 2000 note. However, such forms are becoming very viral on social media, in which it is being claimed that people will have to show ID to exchange Rs 2000 note. Banks say that there are very few people who have two thousand rupee notes. That’s why they hope that they will be able to easily exchange and deposit the notes. SBI has issued a circular saying that you will not have to show any ID to exchange Rs 2000 note.
Notes will be withdrawn only till 30 September
RBI Governor Das said, the deadline for changing notes has been fixed on September 30, so that it can be taken seriously. Otherwise the process of depositing or converting would go on continuously. Das said, no one can give an answer on what will happen after September 30.
