39 Leaders Expelled by Congress in Madhya Pradesh Assembly Polls for Running Against Official Candidates

The Congress party in Madhya Pradesh has taken the stern step of expelling 39 of its leaders from the party’s primary membership for a period of six years. These leaders were expelled due to their decision to contest the upcoming state assembly elections against the official candidates selected by the party .

This action was carried out on the directives of the party’s state unit chief, Kamal Nath, as stated in a release issued by the party’s state vice-president, Rajiv Singh.

The leaders who faced expulsion are participating in the elections as independent candidates or are contesting on the tickets of other political parties, including the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), the Samajwadi Party (SP), and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Among the prominent names facing this action are former Member of Parliament Premchand Guddu (Alot), former MLA Antar Singh Darbar (Mhow), former MLA Yadvendra Singh (Nagod), state party spokesperson Ajay Singh Yadav (Khargapur), Nasir Islam (Bhopal North), and Amir Aqueel (Bhopal North).

The upcoming elections for the 230-member Madhya Pradesh assembly are scheduled for November 17. While the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seeks to retain power, the opposition Congress party is making efforts to dislodge the BJP from its position of authority.
