4 of family found dead in closed room in Greater Noida, police suspect suffocation due to gas leak

Noida: At least four dead bodies were found lying in a closed room in Greater Noida of Uttar Pradesh. Of the bodies recovered 2 were male while 2 female. Police officials said that the deceased belonged to the same family.

The police recovered the bodies from a closed room. Police said that four people, including a married couple, were found dead at their Noida residence on Friday, with suffocation believed to be the cause of their death. The family of 4 were living in a rented accommodation in Greater Noida.

The house belongs to Pawan Singh, who is a resident of Ecotech-3, Gautam Buddha Nagar. They were identified as Chandresh Singh, his wife Nisha, brother Rajesh and sister Babli- all in their 20s- Assistant Commissioner of Police (Central Noida 3) Sumit Shukla said.

They were residents of Sarai Sikandra Rao district in Hathras. The police broke open thedoor of the house. The house smelled of gas and therefore the police suspect that the 4 suffocated to death due to the gas leak.

A senior police officer said that Initial investigations point towards suffocation being the cause of death. The family members of the deceased have been informed about the incident.

The police suspect that after dinner the family probably left the gas open and this led to a leakage. The neighbours raised an alarm after a foul smell started emanating from the room, Shukla said. Police said the deceased, who hailed from Hathras district in Uttar Pradesh and were daily-wage earners, prima facie appeared to have died of suffocation. They are however waiting for the family members of the victim to arrive and will then further investigate the matter.
