41 Elected Unopposed to Rajya Sabha, Including Nadda, Sonia, and Cabinet Ministers

In the latest round of Rajya Sabha elections, 41 out of 59 candidates, including Bharatiya Janata Party president JP Nadda, IT minister Ashwani Vaishnaw, education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, have been elected unopposed. The withdrawal of nominations closed on Tuesday, securing victories for these candidates, with formal results set to be announced on February 27.

The remaining 15 seats, particularly in Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and Himachal Pradesh, are poised for contests, as political rivals field candidates. In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP aims to secure seven out of the ten seats, while in Karnataka, the Janata Dal (Secular) and Congress rivalry is evident.

41 Elected Unopposed to Rajya Sabha

41 Elected Unopposed to Rajya Sabha. JP Nadda, nominated from the vacant seat in Gujarat, extended his term as the party president until June, securing an unopposed victory. IT Minister Ashwani Vaishnaw, supported by the ruling Biju Janata Dal from Odisha, and Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L Murugan also won uncontested.

Speculation about Vaishnaw and Murugan contesting Lok Sabha polls from their respective states was dispelled as they were unexpectedly nominated to the Rajya Sabha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged lawmakers to contest direct elections, particularly those with two or more terms in the House of Elders.

Notable victories include diamond baron Govindbhai Dholakia, JD(U) leader Sanjay Jha, and leaders from West Bengal, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan. The elections reflect a mix of political dynamics and strategic nominations.
