5 Indian sailors on Israeli-linked vessel seized by Iran released, departed for India

The cargo ship, which had 17 Indian nationals on board, was seized by Iran on April 13. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy seized the container ship near the Strait of Hormuz.

Tehran: The foreign policy of the Narendra Modi government at the Center has once again paid off. Five Indian sailors aboard an Israeli ship seized by Tehran have been released on Thursday, the Indian Embassy in Iran said. They have now moved out of Iran. The Indian Embassy has thanked the Iranian authorities for his release.

Randhir Jaiswal, official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, said, “Five Indian sailors aboard MSC Aries were released this evening and departed from Iran. We thank the Iranian authorities for close coordination with the Embassy and Indian Consulate in Bandar Abbas.” Appreciate.”

The cargo ship belonging to Israel was seized by Iran on April 13, which had 17 Indian citizens on board. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy seized the container ship near the Strait of Hormuz. MSC Aries was last seen on April 12 heading towards the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of Dubai.

Earlier, Ann Tessa Joseph from Thrissur, Kerala returned to her country safely on April 18. The Ministry of External Affairs had said that of the 17 Indian crew members, one had returned safely to India and the others were safe.

Iranian Ambassador to India Iraj Elahi also said that Indian nationals who were among the crew members of MSC Aries have not been detained. They are free to go.

In the wake of the seizure of the container ship, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar spoke to his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, raising the issue of the release of the 17 Indian crew members. “The ship turned off its radar in Iran’s territorial waters and endangered the safety of navigation. It has been detained under judicial regulations,” Amirabdollahian said.
