7-year-old mauled by pet Pitbull in Delhi, case registered against neighbour

Delhi: On Saturday, The police said that a girl was allegedly injured in an attack by a pet Pitbull in Jagatpuri area of Shahadra. The girl was 7-year-old. After a PCR call was received at 8:47 pm last night, the police filed an FIR against the owner of the dog.

Delhi: On Saturday, The police said that a girl was allegedly injured in an attack by a pet Pitbull in Jagatpuri area of Shahadra. The girl was 7-year-old. After a PCR call was received at 8:47 pm last night, the police filed an FIR against the owner of the dog.

About this incident, a senior police officer said on Friday evening, the girl was playing outside her house when the dog attacked and dragged her before she was rescued by the locals. The officer added that the she was taken to a hospital by her mother and her condition was stated to be out of danger.

After the incident, the statement of girl’s mother recorded by Police and scanned CCTV footage from the area to ascertain the sequence of the incident. Police said a case has been registered against the dog’s owner Shivanand Bhaskar under sections 289 (negligent act in relation to animal) and 337 (causing hurt by endangering the life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code and investigation is underway.

Some incidents of dog bites have been seen in Delhi in the last few weeks. A two-year-old girl was allegedly mauled to death by a group of stray dogs in Central Delhi’s Tughlaq Road area last week. An autorickshaw driver was beaten by a man and bitten several times by his dog after he allegedly asked the owner to keep the pet on a leash on February.
