Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has fielded Mohinder Bhagat as a candidate for the by-election on Jalandhar West Assembly Seat on Monday. Bhagat had contested the elections from Jalandhar West in 2022 on a BJP ticket.
By-election will be held on Jalandhar West Assembly Seat on July 10. This seat became vacant after the resignation of Sheetal Angural. Angural had won the election from this seat on AAP ticket, but shortly before the Lok Sabha elections, he joined the BJP and resigned.

After the voting, Angural withdrew his resignation but before that Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan accepted the resignation. On behalf of the Assembly Secretary, a copy of the notification in this regard was also sent to Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C, in which the Jalandhar West-34 number seat was shown vacant from May 30, 2024.
Before withdrawing his resignation, Angural had removed Modi’s family tag from his social media account, due to which there were speculations about his comeback. Angural said that he would challenge the decision of accepting his resignation. For this he will soon approach the Punjab and Haryana High Court. But now the Election Commission has announced by-election on the assembly seat.
