Mumbai: Mumbai Police’s EOW has summoned Shiv Sena leader Anil Desai. Desai has been called to the EOW office for questioning on March 5. A complaint was lodged by Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) against Shiv Sena UBT in the Economic Offenses Wing. In its complaint, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) had said that despite the Election Commission declaring them the real Shiv Sena,approximately Rs 50 crore has been withdrawn from the party fund by Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray Party.
Mumbai police said that the summons were issued regarding the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) allegation that the Uddhav Thackeray faction withdrew party funds even after the Election Commission recognised the Shinde faction as the real Shiv Sena .The Election Commission recognised the Shinde faction as the real Shiv Sena in February 2023. Let us tell you that in February 2023, the Election Commission had declared Shinde faction’s Shiv Sena as the real Shiv Sena.
Besides, Shiv Sena’s election symbol bow and arrow was also given to Eknath Shinde faction. Sources said that Desai is a signature authority in Shivsena party. The Shiv Sena split in June last year after Eknath Shinde, who was then a minister in the Uddhav Thackeray cabinet, splintered a coup within the ranks of the party and formed an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), securing the Chief Minister’s post for himself.
The EOW is probing the details of the fund withdrawal and who withdrew them. The agency also received details of the withdrawal from the bank officer concerned. Let us tell you that earlier in Maharashtra, when Eknath Shinde tore Shiv Sena into two, a lot of politics was seen. During this period, Eknath Shinde was attacked a lot by Uddhav Thackeray. But when this matter reached before the Election Commission, the Election Commission declared Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena as the real Shiv Sena.
Besides, the suspension of MLAs of Eknath Shinde group was also postponed. Due to this Shiv Sena UBT was formed, after which they were given a new election symbol.Balaji Kinikar, Treasurer of Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, met Mumbai Commissioner of Police Vivek Phansalkar and filed a written complaint of fraud and forgery against Shiv Sena (UBT) officials on January 30. He claimed that the rival faction was misusing PAN and TAN details and fraudulently filing TDS and income tax returns of the party.
