Social activist Anna Hazare has voiced his disappointment regarding the recent arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with an excise policy case. Hazare attributed Kejriwal’s predicament to his own actions, stating that it is a consequence of the decisions he has made.

Anna Hazare’s Response to Arvind Kejriwal’s Arrest. Expressing his dismay, Hazare highlighted Kejriwal’s shift from being a vocal opponent of liquor to formulating liquor policies, a move that Hazare finds contradictory to their past collaborations. He remarked that despite Kejriwal’s earlier stand against liquor and their shared activism, the pursuit of power seems to have led him astray. Hazare emphasized the inevitability of facing repercussions for one’s choices, asserting that the law will take its course following Kejriwal’s arrest.
Kejriwal’s political journey traces back to his involvement in the Anna movement in 2011, where he protested against alleged corruption during the Congress government’s tenure. Subsequently, Kejriwal established his own political party in 2012 and successfully contested for the chief ministerial position in Delhi.
In response to his arrest, Kejriwal initially pursued legal recourse by filing a petition in the Supreme Court. However, during a court hearing, his legal representative, senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, announced the withdrawal of the plea citing conflicts with Kejriwal’s ongoing remand proceedings.
The arrest has sparked widespread protests organized by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi, with various opposition leaders expressing solidarity with Kejriwal and the AAP. Despite the support garnered, Hazare’s remarks underscore the importance of accountability and the repercussions that individuals must face for their actions.
