UP Local Bodies Election: The Uttar Pradesh Election Commission has announced the dates for the UP civic elections late on Sunday evening. In the civic body elections to be held in two phases, the first polling will be held on May 4 and the second phase will be held on 11th. After this, the winners will be declared on May 13. Explain that with this announcement of the Election Commission, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force in the state.

These are the seats for civic elections in Uttar Pradesh

Voting is to be held in two phases for the UP civic elections. In the first phase, voting will be held in 9 mandals in which Saharanpur, Moradabad, Agra, Jhansi, Prayagraj, Lucknow, Devipatan, Gorakhpur, Varanasi are. Along with this, voting is to be held in 9 mandals in the second phase as well. Which includes Meerut, Aligarh, Kanpur, Chitrakoot, Ayodhya, Basti, Azamgarh and Mirzapur.

According to the information, elections will be held for 14,684 seats in 760 urban local bodies of Uttar Pradesh. Elections will be held for 17 mayor seats, 1,420 corporator seats, 199 Nagar Palika Parishad president seats, 5,327 Nagar Palika Parishad member seats, 544 Nagar Panchayat president seats and 7,178 Nagar Panchayat member seats.

It has been told that EVMs will be used for voting in 17 mayoral seats and 1,420 councilor seats across the state. Ballot papers will be used for voting for all the remaining seats.

On Friday, the State Election Commission had issued a notice regarding the urban local body elections. In the notification, the commission had also fixed the expenditure limit for the candidates contesting the civic elections.

In fact, preparations were going on at the administration level since last year regarding the UP civic elections, but the matter regarding OBC reservation was getting stuck and then the elections without reservation were also announced by the High Court. That decision was challenged in the Supreme Court, then a committee was formed and now elections are being held with OBC reservation.
