In a bold move, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its first list of 195 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, featuring the return of Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi. Bhojpuri filmstar Ravi Kishan gets a Ticket from Gorakhpur. This marks the third consecutive time that PM Modi will contest from Varanasi, a seat he clinched triumphantly in 2014 and 2019. Amidst this political spectacle, Ravi Kishan, a prominent actor and current BJP MP, thanked the party’s top leadership for entrusting him with the pivotal Gorakhpur seat.

Expressing his appreciation, Ravi Kishan stated, “I want to thank the top leadership wholeheartedly… The organization gave me a second chance from the hottest seat after Kashi. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the entire organization and Prime Minister Modi. I will maintain this trust… BJP will win 400 seats, and Gorakhpur seat will create history.”

Gorakhpur, a stronghold of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has been the political battleground where Ravi Kishan emerged victorious against SP candidate Rambhual Nishad in the 2019 elections with a significant lead.

The BJP’s first list also witnessed substantial changes in Delhi, with the inclusion of young face Bansuri Swaraj, daughter of the late BJP veteran Sushma Swaraj, replacing Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi in New Delhi. The strategic candidate selection reflects the party’s dynamic approach as it aims to secure a decisive victory in the upcoming polls.

The BJP’s comprehensive list includes 28 women, 47 youth, 27 Scheduled Castes, 18 Scheduled Tribes, and 57 Other Backward Classes (OBCs), showcasing a diverse and inclusive lineup. With the electoral battle heating up, the party is poised to face challenges head-on, as it aspires to achieve a dominant position in the Lok Sabha.
