Big setback for Congress, former Andhra Chief Minister Kiran Reddy joins BJP in Delhi

New Delhi: Big jolt for Congress as Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N Kiran Reddy has joined BJP today in Delhi. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi got him BJP membership. First reached the party headquarters on Friday, after which he left the Congress and joined the BJP. Party’s National General Secretary Arun Singh and other leaders were also involved in the program.

During the program, Prahlad Joshi said that he welcomes senior South Indian leader Kiran Kumar Reddy to the BJP. Three generations of the Reddy family have been in the Congress. His father Amarnath Reddy was a four-time MLA of Andhra Pradesh and also a minister. Kiran was also a four-time MLA, Speaker, Chip Whip and Chief Minister.

He said that along with being a leader, he has also been a good cricketer. Ranji has also played and now he has started a new innings from BJP. Here he will definitely make a better run. He once suddenly met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the airport and was impressed by him. It is very impressed with the campaign against corruption. This will be our great strength. His image has been very honest.

Please tell that he had resigned from the Congress on March 12 this year. Reacting to Reddy’s resignation, Congress leader and Lok Sabha member Manickam Tagore had said that those who got everything from the party and destroyed the Andhra Pradesh Congress, have now joined the BJP. Reddy was the last chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh.

In his letter addressed to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on March 11, Reddy wrote, “Please accept this letter as my resignation from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress.”

Reddy had earlier resigned from the Congress in 2014 over the decision of the then United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh and create Telangana. He formed his own political party, Jai Samaikya Andhra Party, but returned to Congress in 2018.
