BJP Accuses Gandhi Family of Appropriating Freedom Struggle in National Herald Case

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly criticized the Gandhi family, accusing them of appropriating the legacy of the Congress party, the freedom struggle, and the assets of the National Herald newspaper. This comes in the wake of the enforcement directorate attaching the property associated with the newspaper in the National Herald case.

Key points:

Allegations of Commerce through Illegal Means: BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad asserted that the Congress family is involved in commerce through illegal means. He accused the Gandhi family of misusing the assets of the National Herald newspaper.

Questioning the Gandhi Family: Prasad posed a direct question to Sonia, Rahul, and Priyanka Gandhi, asking how action against dishonesty and the misappropriation of public money can be considered a negation of democracy. This was in response to the Congress’s statement that the enforcement directorate’s action is a “murder of democracy.”

Dynastic Rule and Asset Misuse: Prasad criticized the Gandhi family for allegedly establishing dynastic rule by appropriating the fight for independence and misusing the assets of the National Herald newspaper. He highlighted the formation of the company Young India, which was used to take control of the paper’s assets, calling it a “new low in the democracy of India.”

Call for Accountability: The BJP leader emphasized that the Congress party family must be held accountable for its actions, dismissing claims that investigative agencies are being misused by the government.

Comparison with Modi’s Investigation: Prasad mentioned Narendra Modi’s investigation during his tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, stating that Modi cooperated with the investigation. He questioned whether BJP workers protested at the investigation center during that time.

The National Herald case has been a longstanding issue, and the recent developments have intensified political exchanges between the BJP and the Congress.
