BJP Lifts Suspension of MLA T Raja Singh Ahead of Telangana Elections

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has lifted the suspension of Telangana MLA T Raja Singh after he responded to the show-cause notice issued by the party in the wake of controversy over his remarks against Prophet Muhammad.

T Raja Singh was suspended in August and subsequently issued a show-cause notice by the Central Disciplinary Committee of the party. In response to Singh’s explanation, the committee has decided to revoke his suspension.

Soon after his suspension, Singh expressed confidence that the BJP would revoke his suspension and declared his intention to contest the upcoming Telangana Assembly polls from the Goshamahal constituency on a BJP ticket. He also ruled out the possibility of joining either the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) or the Congress party.

The Telangana state is gearing up for a compelling three-cornered contest in the upcoming elections, with the BRS, Congress, and BJP vying for victory. In the previous Assembly elections in 2018, the BRS secured 88 out of 119 seats, holding 47.4 percent of the total vote share, while the Congress came in second with 19 seats and a 28.7 percent vote share. The Telangana elections are scheduled for November 30, and the results will be announced on December 3.

Polls are scheduled in Mizoram on November 7, Chhattisgarh on November 7 and November 17, Madhya Pradesh on November 17, Rajasthan on November 25, and Telangana on November 30. Vote counting will occur on December 3 in all these states. Chhattisgarh’s polling will be conducted in two phases.
