BJP Moradabad candidate, Kunwar Sarvesh Singh, 72, dies of prolonged illness day after polling

It's noteworthy, voting on Moradabad seat took place in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections on Friday. The late BJP nominee did not participate in his election campaigns due to his health conditions.

New Delhi: In a big blow to the BJP, the party’s Moradabad candidate, Kunwar Sarvesh Singh passed away on Saturday (Apr 20). He was BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from Moradabad. Voting for his seat was held on Friday. It is being told that he died some time ago due to illness. Kunwar Sarvesh Singh was undergoing treatment in a hospital in Delhi. He was not seen even during the election campaign. Sarvesh Singh has been MLA 5 times and MP once. This time also he was contesting elections on BJP ticket.

It’s noteworthy, voting on Moradabad seat took place in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections on Friday. The late BJP nominee did not participate in his election campaigns due to his health conditions.

In 2019, Sarvesh Singh lost the election to SP’s ST Hasan. Kunwar Sarvesh Singh was considered one of the strong leaders of Uttar Pradesh. Sarvesh Singh comes from Thakur caste. Sarvesh Singh’s son Kunwar Sushant Singh is the MLA from Badhapur assembly seat in Moradabad Lok Sabha.

Moradabad Parliamentary Constituency is unreserved. In the last Lok Sabha elections held in the country, i.e. Lok Sabha elections 2019, there were a total of 1958939 voters on this seat. In that election, SP candidate Dr. S. T. Hasan had won, BJP candidate Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar stood second on this seat.

Earlier, during the general elections held in the year 2014, 1771985 voters were registered in Moradabad Lok Sabha seat. In that election, BJP party candidate Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar had won by securing a total of 485224 votes. SP candidate Dr. S. came second in this election. T. Hasan was there.

Even before that, during the Lok Sabha elections held in the year 2009, there were 1388525 voters present in Moradabad parliamentary seat of Uttar Pradesh state, out of which INC candidate Mohammad Azharuddin won by getting 301283 votes. BJP candidate Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar stood second in that election.
