The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has revealed its list of 112 candidates for the upcoming Odisha Assembly election in 2024. The party aims for a significant change in the state, which has been under the rule of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) led by Naveen Patnaik since 2000.

BJP Plans 100 Rallies in Odisha

In a bid to seize power from the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD, the BJP plans to conduct 100 election rallies across the state. Notable speakers expected to address these rallies include Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Odisha BJP vice-president Golak Mohapatra announced that mega rallies will take place in all 21 Lok Sabha constituencies. Besides Modi and Shah, BJP president JP Nadda and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will also address the gatherings.

The party recently convened a meeting to strategize for the upcoming polls.

Simultaneous elections for 147 assembly seats and 21 Lok Sabha constituencies in Odisha will occur in four phases starting from May 13.

Prime Minister Modi has already addressed rallies in Sambalpur and Chandikhole on February 3 and March 5 respectively. Additionally, Rajnath Singh and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan have held meetings in the state.

While top BJP leaders and Union ministers will speak at public meetings in parliamentary constituencies, several chief ministers, including Uttar Pradesh’s Yogi Adityanath and Assam’s Himanta Biswa Sarma, will address rallies in various assembly segments.

Preparations for the campaign are underway, with a focus on highlighting issues like corruption and crimes against women.

Meanwhile, BJD MLA Sudhir Samal expressed confidence in Naveen Patnaik’s leadership, stating that the people of Odisha have chosen to support him for another term, ensuring his place as the country’s longest-serving Chief Minister. He believes the party will sweep the polls.
